The journey has ended...

It is with a heavy heart and great sadness that I let you know Tina's journey has ended. She went peacefully this afternoon, and was surrounded by family. Tina's story of her battle with melanoma touched many people, and was an inspiration to all - she will be missed dearly...

We will be having a memorial service on Monday here in Michigan, and will share more information once we get it...

My heart is breaking right now for you Todd, for Teya, for Tina's family, and for all of us who have been so lucky to have her in our lives. Her journey through this, her fight, it has been an inspiration to all who have been with her since the beginning and those who discovered her along the way. Know that she is still with you now and, like all of us, prays for your strength through this.

Finally Home - By Mercy Me

I'm gonna wrap my arms around my Daddy's neck
And tell him that I've missed him
And tell him all about the man that I became
And hope that it pleased him
There's so much I want to say
There's so much I want you to know
When I finally make it home when I finally make it home
Then I'll gaze upon the throne of the King
Frozen in my steps
And all the questions that I swore I would ask
Words just won't come yet
So amazed at what I've seen so much more
Than this old mind can hold
And the sweetest sound these ears have yet to hear
The voices of the angels

Keeping you all in my prayers and hoping that beautiful memories of Tina help you through this difficult time. She touched so many lives and was such an inspiration to us all! A butterfly will never be "just" a butterfly any more...it will be a reminder to me to never give up, not to sweat the small stuff, to put a smile on my face like Tina always did, to do something kind to help someone else, and to continue Tina's message about protecting yourself from the sun.

Tina was, and continues to be an inspiration. She was the first to respond to my blog and encourage me to keep the word of melanoma awareness going. I didn't know her, but I can tell that everyone that encountered her in person or online was made a better person as a result. Condolences to the family...and embrace the newest angel that watches over you.

So very sorry for your loss. Although I never had the pleasure of meeting her personally Tina was certainly a huge inspiration to many strangers who supported her via the blog. She was so well loved and will be missed, but she certainly made her mark and brought melanoma much needed awareness. My heart goes out to her entire family. So very sorry.

Tina was such an incredible person and had such a way about her. Your courage with this battle was amazing and has not been lost on any of us. Her spirit will live on and she has and will continue to make a difference. Her story needs to continue to be told, over and over, so it WILL make a difference and others will not have to go through what she did. Todd, Teya, Rose, Rick - all of you are in our thoughts and prayers.

I send my sincere condolences to your entire family. I am a melanoma warrior and came to know you through the blog. I found encouragement and hope. My heart is heavy and I will continue to pray for strength for all of you.

Tina will always be remembered by those who "met" her as the definition of a melanoma warrior. She was strong, brave, and determined. Although she had her own battle, she continued to support her fellow melanoma warriors by offering advice, encouragement, or even something little to make us laugh. My heart is aching for you today. Prayers, love, and thoughts are coming your way. May your lovely girl finally rest.

Tina introduced me to Kris Carr (Crazy Sexy Life). She got Jeff to wear sun screen. She made us all aware of the dangers of the sun and how to protect ourselves. She taught us a valuable lesson on how precious our health is. I will not take my health, friends, family for granted again. Thank you Tina, you will be missed but not forgotten.

I am sorry for your loss, as a melanoma survivor of 2 years Melanoma don't seem to discriminate when it picks its victims. Sounds like Tina had a very supportive family and I send prayers to all of you.

Todd and Teya, I only knew Tina through working at Teya's school. She always had a smile on her face. She never shared with me the details of her fight. It was only when I begged Teya's teacher to tell me what was going on that I found out.
My family has a history of dysplastic moles, so thank the good Lord, we go to the dermatologist on a regular basis. My 20 year old son went to the dermatologist this summer for the first time with a mole that I didn't like the looks of. It turned out to be cancer, though not melanoma. I had some skin cancer removed from my nose last summer.
Her fight will be forever on my mind and in my heart, as I read her blogs. I wish I had known earlier. She was an inspiration to many. My heart breaks for you, Teya and your family. You are in my prayers.
